2013 Iron Bowl

Shot my second Auburn University game. It just happened to be the Iron Bowl. Just in case you live under a rock in space and didn't see or hear about this thought I'd share some of my photos from it. I was tasked to cover Alabama so that's why there is more shots of them, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Auburn Tigers Football

So I had the privilege of shooting the Auburn vs Georgia college football game last saturday the 16th.   I have to say it was as I expected and I mean that in a good way. There are strict rules in place as to where and when you are allowed to go somewhere, but everyone is professional and respectful.

The other extremely great thing is college football is so much easier to shoot. The plays are organized and the players actually run the designed routes. It's not just a bunch of chaos every play. There are almost always predictable shooting (running) lanes and receivers running real routes that are easy to follow if you know anything about football.

I had an amazing experience as a whole and I look forward to shooting the Iron Bowl in a couple of weeks. Below is a shot I got of what is being called the "immaculate deflection" or "miracle catch" as well as a link to a few I snapped from the rest of the game.

Mobile Burn Trailer.

This was a lot of fun and it's good practice for us new guys. It's no real fire by any means, but at least it gives you a sign of things to come

High School Football - Auburn vs Gadsden

Here is my favorite shot from the game Fri. the 27th of Sept. 2013 between the Auburn Tigers and the Gadsden Titans.

I have to say being new to sports photography it is a lot more fun than I'd hoped for. While the challenges of lighting at some of the smaller stadiums can be frustrating the rewards can be just as great.

Laura and Kyle McBride wedding

Every wedding I shoot always provides a chance to try something new. As luck would have it they generally turn out to be my favorite shots from each wedding. This shot is one involving burning steel wool spinning behind the Bride and Groom.

Astrophotography Timelapse

the perseid meteor shower was a bust in my opinion. I did however shoot a very short timelapse of some clouds rolling across the stars while they rotate through the sky. There is one or two meteors in this and that was pretty much the extent of 8 hours of watching. At least it was a pretty night

Astrophotography

I keep hearing about the Perseid Meteor shower this weekend and decided to try some astrophotography out. Shot a couple of quick shots to figure out the best exposure settings and waited... and waited... and nothing. Hopefully it will be more active this evening. I did manage to get a couple of neat shots. As this was a test shoot I didn't care to go very far to get away from any light pollution. I just set up a tripod on my dock and fired away. Here is one of the shots I got

couple more of the girls

The girls left their vacation here and went to the beach for a dance/play vacation from their vacation? Anyways, once they were back they asked if I could do another picture. I had a couple of shots from my last trip to Nashville I hadn't used. So I threw this together
Then after seeing it they wanted more... I asked what they wanted this time and they said they wanted the same shot, but make it on fire (they had just seen my firefighter pics). So I spent about 30 seconds and came up with this
Was a fun little experiment.

Dancing!

Some of my family is in town getting ready to head to nationals for dance. While they are here we decided to set up a small studio in my garage. I could only find 3' wide rolls of white paper so I took a bit of time and rolled out a 9' background and floor. As the girls came in we took a lot of pictures, both regular portraits and some action dance shots. here are a couple of the results so far

Finally shot some new macro today

Here are a couple of insects I found on a short walk today. There's always so much to see without having to go very far if you know where to look.

EPK

Just finished up with some EPK work on an upcoming film. Was a lot more fun than I expected. Met some really cool people and seeing behind the scenes on how movies are actually made was very interesting. I've got a lot of footage and pics to go through, but will have some up as quickly as possible.

Head Shots!

Working on some head shots lately and thought I'd share a few

Been a while...

So it's been a pretty busy time since my last post. I have moved to the West Coast and now live in Silver Strand. I have spent a bit of time traveling the west coast line and have to say the scenery here is amazing. This shot is of Pigeon Point Lighthouse near big Basin and the Redwoods. For a grey overcast day thought the post work really made this shine!
